Understanding Handbag Condition: Brand New, Excellent, Very Good & Good
Share
Condition is one of the most important factors when buying a pre-owned luxury handbag.
At Bagistry Heritage, condition grading is designed to help customers understand what to expect before purchasing.
Brand New
Brand New pieces are unworn and presented in pristine condition. They should show no meaningful signs of previous use.
Some items may include original packaging or accessories, although this can vary.
Excellent
Excellent condition handbags have been exceptionally well cared for.
They may show very limited signs of previous ownership, but their overall appearance remains beautifully preserved. Hardware, leather, canvas, structure, and interior condition should remain strong.
Very Good
Very Good pieces may show gentle signs of use while remaining attractive and well maintained.
You may notice light wear on corners, handles, hardware, or interior surfaces. These characteristics are typical of a handbag that has been used but cared for responsibly.
Good
Good condition handbags show more visible signs of previous use.
This may include wear to corners, patina, scratches, hardware marks, interior signs of use, or softened materials. However, the handbag should still retain its functionality, character, and distinctive design.
Condition does not determine authenticity. A genuine handbag can show significant wear, while a counterfeit product may appear brand new.
When shopping pre-owned, always review the photographs and product-specific condition notes rather than relying only on the condition grade.
At Bagistry Heritage, we see signs of previous ownership as part of a handbag’s story. The goal is not to make every piece look new, but to describe it clearly so you can decide which condition is right for you.
